i can make excuses for posting this late, but i have none that are worthy. i remember seeing this live and having to hold back tears. totally brings back memories and emotions that i thought i had completely suppressed.
the only issue i had was the one part where he discusses how 'they hate us for our freedom'... the only time i've ever heard him use such rhetoric without mocking it. but in all honesty, it's the way we all felt at the time.
in contrast, jon's commentary and address to president's september 11th speech is amazing. insightful and hilarious, jon at his best. http://youtube.com/watch?v=7FZEnptl8_U

I guess this kind of exemplifies why I like Jon Stewart. He's funny, but more importantly really smart. The questions he asks always convey the fact to me, that as much as he makes fun of the our government and the media, he actually cares for America, and the outcomes that affect our nation, and the satire is part of this.
eric -- totally agree. did you see his interview on crossfire? one can totally see his desire for a better america coming through during that interview. one of the biggest reasons i think he's so awesome is because he's a HUGE advocate for unbiased journalism to regulate the govt. definitely check it out, if you havent already.

To be honest, I didn't feel that "they hate us for our freedom" at that time or any other time.
